A Car Called Design

OUR CONCEPT

When considering producing our model to prove the concept we has worked on, we continued to focus on the theme of lighting as a means of directional marking and instructions for our user, Fiona. Below are exhibits of how we plan to carry out our prototyping of particular elements.

With our target market of Fiona in mind, it is important to consider that, as a result of her own disability, this design and the car itself along with its functionalities are highly personal and specific to her own needs. As a result of this, the car is less of a car and more of an extension of Fiona as it is the key catalyst in giving her the freedom she aspires to through the use of our design. As a result of this, it would be important that, in the real world application of our car and its design, Fiona would need to be briefed on the cars uses and functionalities upon purchase of the car, in a dealership for example. This is because it is important to gauge how well she can interact with the car with her not being entirely blind, meaning there needs to be an opportunity to become accustomed to what the particular colours signify as well as making sure that any vague visuals can be understood and audio is clear, concise and easy to understand, in order to not assault Fiona’s available senses.
